Camelia Restaurant Rebranding

In 2017 I successfully enrolled into an advanced graphic design course at Indiana University with a letter of recommendation from a former professor although I had yet to obtain the qualifying credits. I owe a lot of what I know today to my experience in this semester long classroom.

In this course I re-branded a local Bloomington, IN French restaurant called Finch's, into Camelia. I created a new logo, menu, website and food packaging for Camelia. Throughout this process I used the programs Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. I used Illustrator to make the restaurants new logo shown below.

When creating Camlia's website, both mobile and desktop, I used Photoshop to design each individual site page. I then used www.invisionapp.com to create a working website that users could navigate through. View the website here.

When creating food packaging for Camelia, I first designed my own template for a small personal-pan pizza using Illustrator. I then created a design for the box. I connected Adobe Illustrator to a laser cutter, which very precisely cut out my template. The final project consisted of 110 lb paper, glue, and a cardboard cut out for the pizza to set on. I designed the box to have four vents on the top that were able to be punched through to allow the pizza to air properly. I enjoyed using the laser cutter for this project , but unfortunately the laser left behind soot marks on the paper, which was out of my control.

I then used InDesign to format and create a new menu for Camelia using existing menu items. I printed the final menu on 90 lb paper. I included an insert inside of the menu, which served as the drink menu.

My final project for this course was to create a cookbook consisting of menu items served in the restaurant. I designed the cover of the cookbook using Adobe Illustrator. I designed the inside pages of the cookbook using InDesign and printed then bound the final product.
